Weddings at St Wilfrid's are always special. It's not just the beautiful village as you approach. It's not just the amazing medieval building. It’s the way in which each couple is cared for from the moment they first get in touch with us to the moment they walk out of the church as husband and wife. It’s the way that God’s love is demonstrated in the way that their wedding is planned and prepared for. It’s the way they are welcomed back after their honeymoon and whenever they come to worship.

St Wilfrid’s is a special place to get married, a place where you can know God’s presence with you as you say those wonderful wedding vows. And because the wedding day is only the beginning, it’s a place that you can come back to time and time again as you celebrate your married lives together.

Don't just take our word for it. Here are a few things that couples who have been married recently have said:

"Getting married at St Wilfrid's was a wonderful experience. The church is of course beautiful however it is so much more than a lovely oldbuilding. The people inside it really make it special. We were very touched by the interest of the congregation in our wedding and we felt they were really rooting for us. There is a real community spirit. The wedding itself was perfect even though we had a few minor but funny mishaps. We have continued to attend church following our wedding as we really enjoy being part of this community."  Phil and Andrea

Our wedding day was a day we will always remember .It sounds a cliche but it was everything we hoped for and more.  The sermon was wonderful - personal to us and lots of our guests commented on the fact that Jane was so warm and welcoming and obviously knew us personally which really added to the sense of occasion . I know our guests were moved and many have said that it was the best wedding they have ever been to - how wonderful is that !re. St Wilfrids is such a special place to us and never in our wildest dreams did we think we would be so happy. To get a second chance at happiness is wonderful. Rev'd Jane made our wedding so personal to us. We are an older couple - second time around - who wanted to have a church weddin g. It meant such a lot to us. We were never made to feel too old and Jane made us feel as special as all the young couples doing it for the first time. She included our families and suggested special ideas which really worked for us.

Thank you so much x      Sue and Steve

Your wedding plans

weddingThe first step is an appointment with Rev'd Jane to fill in your application form. At this meeting you will also discuss dates and times, wedding fees and the legal issues around your marriage.

Following this you will be invited to one of our 'All Out For Love' Marriage Preparation Evenings. Here you will meet the Wedding Team and have the opportunity to meet other couples getting married at St Wilfrid's. The evening consists of supper together, a chat to a member of the Wedding Team to fill in the details of your wedding day plans, information about the service itself, discussion about married life and a candlelit visit to the church.

It's a lovely occasion and a way to really start to build links with the church and the congregation. We invite all wedding couples to attend church before their wedding, to worship with us and begin to feel a part of our church family.
