We believe that everyone can find their place at St Wilfrid's. We are a growing, traditional, Anglican church at the heart of the community and you will always have a warm welcome here.
If you're new to church please don't worry. We understand that it can be nerve-wracking coming to a new church for the first time. We aim to make it as easy for you as possible. When you arrive in church you will be greeted by one of our Welcomers. If you tell them that you are new they'll do all they can to make you feel at ease.
During a service there will usually be singing, bible reading and preaching, prayer and the opportunity to receive communion. This is when we remember the death and resurrection of Jesus by sharing bread and wine. If you don't want to take communion you are welcome to come to the front with everyone else for a prayer of blessing. We want you to be part of the whole service.
After the service we have coffee and tea (with water or juice for the little ones) in the Parish Centre which is just across the road from the church. It's a great way to get to know people and a good place to ask questions.
For us this is at the heart of what we believe and how we try to live. We believe in the transforming power of Jesus and that our lives can be changed through him. We want to share his message of love and peace through our lives and worship. We explore the Bible together and apply its truth to our everyday lives. We support each other through practical help and prayer. We work as a church locally, nationally and internationally to bring the hope and light of Christ to as many people and situations as we can.
Through the year we run Bible Studies and Courses for those who want to learn more about Jesus and what it means to be a Christian. Check our Bible Study page.
